One of the rarest vintage Omega watches available today, is the Marine Standard model. This remarkable example was produced in 1939, which was its first year in production, and it is a successor to the original Marine model introduced in 1932. The Marine Standard is recognized today as a second-generation Omega dive watch. It represents an upgrade from the original Marine model and has a longer case, measuring 23mm across (excluding the crown) and 38mm from lug to lug. Unlike the earlier Marine model, which had a hidden crown, the Marine Standard features a visible crown that allows for easy access to hand winding and time setting, making it suitable for daily wear.
The earlier Marine model had a large clip on the back that could be uncomfortable for some wearers. In contrast, the Marine Standard has two smaller clips that secure the edge of the case back without causing discomfort on the wrist.
This unpolished stainless steel case is referenced as CK 3635. The acrylic crystal is in excellent condition, and the unsigned original crown is correct for this model. It has a new case gasket and comes with an 18mm handmade vintage-style genuine leather strap. The wrist size shown in the photos is 6 inches. The factory original finish dial and hands exhibit a lovely aged patina. The manual wind movement is an Omega caliber T17 that has been professionally serviced, is running strong, and keeps accurate time. The movement's serial number dates this watch to 1939, and it was sold to the French market as indicated by the "Fab Suisse" printed on the dial.
